Our bodies are flutes with seven whirling chakras through which energy rises from root to crown. The earth also has a network of electric currents that is affected by human activity and reciprocally, it influences our individual and collective flows.
Whether consciously or unconsciously, all humans are sensitive to the frequencies emanating from cosmic and telluric energies.
We believe that wine can be an ambrosia of creativity when correctly balanced with lunar and telluric energies. J’NOON has been created to raise the spirits of the seeker by guiding the rising energies within.
J’NOON is an invitation to experience each chakra in balance. When the energy flows freely, we enjoy self-awareness.
When we, Jean-Charles Boisset, proprietor of Boisset Collection and Kapil Sekhri, proprietor of Fratelli Vineyards, met, an immediate and energetic connection was formed. We wanted to create history together in India, producing the finest wine from the Indian terroir for the world stage.
J’NOON is the culmination and realization of our passion and long-term vision for luxury fine wine from India. We have captured that feeling in a limited-edition collection of 2,400 bottles of red, white and sparkling wines.
The grapes were grown, nurtured, handpicked and carefully selected from the Fratelli estate vineyards in Akluj, Maharashtra located on the right bank of the Nira River. Skillfully created by Jean-Charles Boisset with the Fratelli team at its state-of-the-art winery, J’NOON and JCB No. 47 wines are both subtle and intense — just like India.
Jean-Charles Boisset is an acclaimed French vintner and the proprietor of Boisset Collection, a family-owned collection of more than 25 historic and unique wineries in the world’s most pre-eminent terroirs. Boisset properties are bound together by a common cause: authentic, terroir-driven wines in harmony with their history, their future and the land and people essential to their existence.
A deep attraction to India, along with a dynamic partnership with the visionary Sekhri family, prompted him to seize this once-in-a-life time opportunity to create unique wines and his own Indian dream!
Kapil Sekhri is a young, dynamic industrialist from Delhi. While holidaying in Tuscany, Kapil was introduced to the world-famous Chianti wines. From that moment on, wine has been a passion of his and it was inevitable that, along with the Secci brothers and Super Tuscan winemaker Piero Masi, Fratelli Vineyards would be born and become a leading wine producer in India a decade later. After meeting Jean-Charles Boisset on his first visit to India, a vision and collaboration was born: to make wines in India of such quality and prestige that the world would take notice, sparking a new energy in the country’s fine wine culture.
Our vineyards spread over 240 acres in Akluj, Maharashta located on the right bank of the Nira River. They are divided over three sites - Motewadi, Nimgaon & Garwad and are planted with 12 grape varieties with a trench line of 330km with 350,000 saplings.
The vineyards have a mineral and organically poor soil. The absence of clay and excellent drainage on the vineyard slopes, accompanied by Piero Masi’s skill, has helped in extracting the maximum out of the soil for our wines.
The climate is sub-tropical with an average temperature of 33° C during the months of March to August and mild winters registering an average temperature of 26° C. Being at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level, there is a difference of 15° C between day and night temperatures that helps the berries to ripen with enough sunshine during the day, and the aromas to be preserved with the coolness at night.
100% Chardonnay Brut
We named this single-vineyard sparkling wine No. 47 in honor of the year of India’s independence, 1947. From the sandy soils in Motewadi, the wine has prominent mineral notes with aromas of green apple, tropical fruit and brioche; it is rich in the mouth with great texture, yet dry and beautiful to pair with Indian cuisine. The wine was barrel fermented in French oak barrels and then the secondary fermentation took place in the bottle, following the methode traditionnelle of sparkling winemaking. The wine spent a total of 24 months in barrel and bottle before release.
60% Chardonnay, 40% Sauvignon Blanc
This blend of barrel-fermented Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from the sandy and rocky soils of Garwar combines green apple, white pear and stone fruit flavors of Chardonnay with fresh, vibrant lime, lemongrass, white pepper, jasmine and herbaceous fruit flavors of Sauvignon Blanc. This white wine places our palate between Pouilly-Fuisse and the white wines of the Northern Rhône Valley. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Cabernet Sauvignon 57.5%, Petit Verdot/ Marcelan 38.5%, Sangiovese 4%
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, co-fermented Petit Verdot and Marselan, and Sangiovese in Garwar spent 24 months in French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes backbone as well as superb freshness to this exquisite blend, while the Petit Verdot, Marselan and Sangiovese grapes paint the wine deep purple and provide luscious flavors of black fruits with structured tannins, a full body and a long, silky finish. It places us immediately to the right bank of Bordeaux, with freshness, notes of spearmint and graphite against a backdrop of cedar, fresh tobacco and pencil shavings. Bone dry, it would pair beautifully with rich foods.
